Prospera Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan

This past weekend Georgia Cycling Members ventured back into the Okanagan for the annual experience that is The Prospera Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan. This event has become a staple for many of us and we appreciate the hard work that Axel and Jodi Merckx put into making the weekend a success.

This year our team headed out there with a few goals in mind and a few of those included ones related to cycling... Here are a few highlights and snapshots of the always entertaining weekend.

Chris D'arcy showed us that he is most certainly back in the game by securing 18th place overall and 1st in his age category (20-29). The young Georgia Cycling member has just returned to the racing scene after a year and a half off the bike. Keep an eye out as he plans to continue his Summer of cycling at the Valley Fondo in a few weeks time.

The Mixed Team was out in full effect this past weekend and ended up just shy of the podium by coming in 4th place in the teams classification. Riding together as a group is always the plan for those pictured above. The Big O... A true character within the team who's always willing to lend a helping hand (wheel). Oliver rode the 127km route alongside Judi and Sophie and also provided endless entertainment the entire weekend.

A little recon ride on Saturday took us to Summerland where we scoped out the KOM climb and then headed back into town for some lake side action.

We wisely decided to take the final group shot early on in the night as things got a little messy as time passed by on Sunday. When we think about it... Georgia Cycling wouldn't be the same if it didn't contain a few messy nights as we are all about the social!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past weekend! We look forward to seeing you all at the next event...
